Matthew Lawrence says Justin Timberlake thought he was 'so mean' when NSYNC visited the Boy Meets World See
It appears the male cast members of Boy Meets World didn’t quite hit it off with a certain boy band during their visits to the set of the iconic ’90s sitcom. In the latest episode of the rewatch podcast Pod Meets World, Matthew Lawrence joined hosts Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong to reminisce about their time on the show, including NSYNC’s frequent visits to the set.
Lawrence recalled, "I don't know if you guys — well, of course, you remember this — but when NSYNC kept coming over to the set?" He then revealed a surprising encounter with Justin Timberlake years later, around the release of Timberlake's debut solo album Justified in 2002. "He thought I wasn’t very nice," Lawrence shared. "He didn’t like me. And he flat out told me to my face." Lawrence, a huge fan of Timberlake, was taken aback by the accusation, as he had no memory of any tension.
"He was like, ‘Oh, yeah. Yeah, now you wanna be friends with me? You were so mean on the set.’" Both Lawrence and Strong attributed Timberlake’s perception to Lawrence’s shyness at the time. "I was super shy," Lawrence admitted. "And also, I had, you know, kind of a crush on Danielle. And these guys kept rolling up on set, trying to hit on her!"
Strong added, "They were just orbiting around Danielle in a constant circle." Fishel, laughing, chimed in, "I was wondering if you were gonna say it. I also know why he was probably a little standoffish
