Actress Jennifer Esposito is exiting CBS police procedural series, "NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service", after just one season.
She played NCIS Special Agent Alexandra "Alex" Quinn, who was first introduced in the season 14 premiere, reported Deadline.
"It was a great experience. I could not have asked for a better opportunity than to work with the 'NCIS' cast and producers," Esposito said.

The reason behind Esposito's departure isn't disclosed, but it is said that the show plans to go in a new creative direction next season.

There's also no word on whether Esposito might return as a guest star or in a recurring capacity in the future.
Esposito was previously a series regular on "Blue Bloods" since the first season until her exit in 2012, due to her health conditions.
She has a recurring role on Showtime's "The Affair" and has booked a role in "Speed Kills" starring John Travolta.
