after the cable network ordered the adaptation of her novel to series, with an eight-episode first season order.

Amy Adams is set to star while

Jean-Marc Vallee

is on board as director, reported Deadline.
The book by "

Gone Girl

" author Flynn was optioned in 2011 by Blumhouse, before "Gone Girl" became a worldwide phenomenon.

The drama was first envisioned as a feature film at Alliance Films, before it was developed as a serialized drama at Blumhouse. Netflix was reportedly eyeing the drama series.

Marti Noxon will serve as showrunner. Flynn will executive produce and write several episodes, with Noxon, Vallee, Jason Blum, Charles Layton, Jessica Rhoades and Nathan Ross also attached as executive producers.

Published in 2006, mystery novel "Sharp Objects" centers on reporter Camille Preaker (Adams), who returns home after a brief stay at a psych hospital. Now living at her tiny hometown, she covers the murders of two preteen girls.

Dogged by her own demons, she must unravel the psychological puzzle of her own past, if she wants to get the story - and survive this homecoming.
