Montana Jordan and Emily Osment are preparing to introduce the next narrative in The Big Bang Theory world.
CBS said on Tuesday that the Young Sheldon stars, Georgie Cooper and Mandy McAllister, will reprise their roles in a new spinoff series about them raising their family in Texas "while navigating the challenges of adulthood, parenting, and marriage."
The spinoff series was announced roughly one month after the seventh and final season of Young Sheldon premiered.
Producers Chuck Lorre, Steven Molaro, and Steve Holland—who previously worked on The Big Bang Theory and Young Sheldon—will helm the half-hour comedy series featuring multiple cameras.
"We have always found the universe of the Cooper family to be quite special, from Young Sheldon to The Big Bang Theory. The three of them released a statement saying, "We're very excited to continue their stories through Georgie and Mandy's eyes."
Jordan posted a copy of the statement to Instagram along with the message, "GET READY!!!!" The Cooper lineage carries on. I appreciate all of your help with Young Sheldon. I hope that this new journey will provide everything you've been waiting for."
In response, Osment posted a narrative on Instagram along with a remark referring to Jordan as "the best fake husband a girl could ask for."
"A huge thank you to my entire team for working so hard to realize my lifelong multicam ambitions, as well as to our Steves and Chuck for believing in us. Stay tuned, folks—the story is continued…," she wrote in her caption.
The president of CBS Entertainment, Amy Reisenbach, described the new show as an extension of a "wonderful journey."
"It has been a privilege to spend the last seven years with Sheldon and the Cooper family and now this wonderful journey will continue with Georgie and Mandy. Chuck and both Steves have done a masterful job developing these characters and entertaining generations of fans with relatable, heartwarming stories brought to life by Montana and Emily. We eagerly look forward to the next chapter in this beloved universe," Reisenbach said.
