Prepare to return to action alongside LAPD cops on The Rookie.
The procedural drama, starring Nathan Fillion as John Nolan premiered on ABC in October 2018. Nolan, a newly divorced 45-year-old, relocates to Los Angeles to become the LAPD's oldest rookie.
"Because it's a police show, there's a lot of drama and excitement." But I believe there's something relatable about the redo and restart," Fillion said of the show's success to the Toronto Sun.
"Dropping everything and focusing on something completely different." That is a new reality for many people, especially in the aftermath of the pandemic. We've all reorganized and changed our priorities. People have resigned from their positions, and people can connect to change," he noted.
The Rookie got renewed for a sixth season in April 2023, ahead of the cliffhanger season 5 conclusion. With 98 episodes aired throughout seasons 1-5, the show is likely to reach the 100-episode mark during season 6, with the majority of the ensemble cast expected to remain.

Who will be seen in season 6?
The majority of Season 5's cast members are likely to return, led by Nathan Fillion as John Nolan, who also acts as an executive producer on the program. Richard T. Jones plays Wade Grey, Melissa O'Neil plays Lucy Chen, Eric Winter plays Tim Bradford, Alyssa Diaz plays Angela Lopez, Mekia Cox plays Nyla Harper, and Jenna Dewan plays Bailey Nune.
What happened in season 5's ending?
Season 6's plot has not yet been revealed, but given the thrilling conclusion to season 5 in May, it's sure to begin on a tense note.
"Under Siege" begins with Aaron Thorsen (Tru Valentino) and Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) walking home from a long game of D&D. They break out to investigate odd noises when they are assaulted by a bunch wearing frightening masks. Thorsen was badly wounded, and Juarez was nearly unconscious but able to dial 911 for assistance.
Nolan and Bailey are attacked at home, and Nyla's baby girl Lyla is taken from her cot shortly afterwards. Nolan and Bailey were happily unharmed, and Nyla and James discovered their daughter outside their home.
Chen and Bradford, popularly known to viewers as "Chenford," are also surrounded by masked assailants while looking for a lead. In other news, Diaz and Wesley have safely delivered their baby girl.
The masked men's leader is revealed to be Luke Moran, who first appeared in season 1. He held a grudge against the officers at the Mid-Wilshire police station after being arrested for elder abuse, and he eventually perished at the hands of police. As more police officers arrive on the scene, two vehicles drive away, with a mystery man (Kristian Brunn) appreciating the distraction Moran and his team produced.
Aside from the introduction of a new enemy, viewers are also left with the unknown destiny of Thorsen, who is in a coma. As the finale concludes, a "code blue" (cardiac or respiratory arrest) is called, and hospital personnel rush into his room while Jaurez stands nearby.
