Ellen DeGeneres to get Golden Globe lifetime award for her contribution to Television

Popular comedian and talk show host Ellen DeGeneres will be honoured at the 77th Golden Globes ceremony with the Carol Burnett Award for her outstanding contribution to television.

The official Twitter handle of the Golden Globe Awards tweeted about the same, "The HFPA is proud to announce that three-time Golden Globe® nominee Ellen DeGeneres will receive the Carol Burnett Award for her outstanding contributions to the television medium, during the 77th Golden Globes ceremony on Sunday, January 5, 2020."



With this recognition, Ellen will be only the second recipient of the Carol Burnett Award which was first given to Burnett herself at the Golden Globes award ceremony in January this year. The renowned host is one of the most prominent gay women celebrities. She began her career in stand-up before shifting to television. She is currently the host of daytime talk show
