Alan Ball, who created the original series and also served as its showrunner, is onboard as an executive producer.

Based on "The Southern Vampire Mysteries" novel series by Charlaine Harris, "True Blood" debuted in 2008 and ran for seven seasons until 2014.

The show featured Oscar winner Anna Paquin and actor Stephen Moyer alongside the likes of Alexander Skarsgard, Joe Manganiello, Sam Trammell, Ryan Kwanten and Rutina Wesley.

"True Blood" took place in a world in which vampires live among humans after the creation of a synthetic blood substitute that allowed vampires to stop hunting humans for food.

The story mainly centred around

Sookie Stackhouse

(Paquin), a telepathic waitress living in the fictional rural town of Bon Temps, Louisiana, who falls in love with 173-year-old vampire Bill Compton (Moyer).
