Anna Delvey addresses her viral 'nothing' comment on Dancing with the Stars; says, 'That was the truth'

Anna Delvey is standing by her controversial comments made on Dancing with the Stars. The 33-year-old convicted con artist addressed her now-viral remark during a conversation with former contestant Tori Spelling on the Sept. 28 episode of her podcast, misSPELLING. Delvey, who was eliminated alongside Spelling in a double elimination on Sept. 24, stunned DWTS fans when host Julianne Hough asked what she was taking away from the experience, to which Delvey bluntly responded, “Nothing.”




When Spelling, 51, asked her about the comment on the podcast, Delvey explained, "Because that was the truth." “You told me what to do, I tried it, and I was still rejected. I’m taking away nothing because your advice was worthless,” she elaborated. “Even though I followed it, it didn’t work for me. That’s just how I felt. I know people were trying to interpret my answer, but I didn’t take much from the experience.”


Delvey also reflected on the backlash she faced for being cast on the show, stating that although the producers defended her, she still felt like she had to be on the defensive. While acknowledging that the cast was generally kind, she admitted she found her early elimination “a little bit unbelievable.” During the podcast, Delvey further criticized the advice she received, saying, “They told me to smile more, do x, y, z, and everything would be better. But it felt like they built me up only to eliminate me so early.”


She also expressed frustration, claiming that she and Spelling were better dancers than some of the contestants who remained. Calling the experience “a waste of time,” Delvey added that the older demographic of the show’s audience likely worked against her. Despite this, she said she never had high expectations for herself on DWTS. Delvey, who wore a bedazzled ankle monitor as part of her costume on the show, became infamous for posing as a wealthy heiress and defrauding people, banks, and hotels, leading to her 2017 arrest and 2019 conviction for grand larceny and theft of services.
