" alum Beth Behrs has been roped in to play the lead in the comedy pilot "

Our People

".

Based on the Israeli show "Nevsu: A Young Multi-Cultural Couple," the project follows Abel, a man from a bombastic African family who does not have a world in their native language for "privacy," and his fiancee Jenny (Behrs), who hails from a mid-western family, as they try to build a normal life together.

The show also stars Lea Thompson, who will play Jenny's mother, Lisa as per a report.

"Our People" received a pilot commitment in September.

will write in addition to executive producing. Trent O'Donnell will be directing the pilot.
