Upcoming serial ‘Krishnakoli’ to break the stereotype

The new Bengali television serial is about to hit television.
The upcoming television serial ‘Krishnakoi’ is all set to hit the small screen. The story revolves around ‘Shyama’, a village belle, who has a beautiful voice. But the talented girl faces stigma at every phase of her life due to a darker skin tone. Tiyasha Ray, will be seen as Shyama, will debut with this soon-to-be-aired serial.

In a press conference on Thursday, Tiyasha said, “In our society a girl is judged by her beauty instead of her talent. As a prospective bride they have to face a lot of trouble due to the skin tone. It’s quite unfortunate.” Actor

will be seen as the male protagonist. His on-screen character Nikhil will fall in love with Shyama. He said, “I am just like my on-screen avatar. In real life, I have also done MBA. I am glad to be a part of this show.”

Shyama is a devotee of lord Krishna and performs Keertan. Basanta Chowdhury (Nikhil’s father), a well-known businessman loves Keertan. Incidentally, Shyama gets married to Nikhil, who is afraid of darkness. Actor Shankar Chakraborty will be seen essaying the character Basanta. According to sources, Basanata will encourage Shyama to pursue her career as a singer.

Sushanta Das, the director of the daily soap shared that they want to break the notion about fairer skin. “We are still obsessed with fair skin. That’s why fairness creams are in demand. With the serial Krishnakoli, we wanted to break that notion. A girl shouldn’t be judged by her beauty. I'm happy that we initiated the change,” he said.

, Sarbori Mukherjee, Mou, Koushik and Vivan Ghosh will be seen in this upcoming serial. Rimjhim will be seen playing a character that has grey shades. She said, “We are like a family. We all enjoy a lot during our shooting. It’s like more of a picnic.”Popular television actress, Sarbori will be seen essaying a meaty role in this show. Although she didn’t want to disclose much about her character, she wished that the daily serial could break the stigma associated with darker skin tone.
