1. Rrishi Kaushik
Kamakhayakinkar Kaushik aka Rrishi Kaushik was born and brought up in Assam. He moved to Kolkata in 2002 after winning a modelling hunt in Assam. By then, he had debuted in Assamese film Rong. After coming to Kolkata, Rrishi did a short film, Daman, and later debuted on the big screen with Riingo’s Kranti. But the biggest break in his career came with the TV serial Ekhane Akash Neel, where Rrishi played Ujan Chatterjee.
He later won hearts as Archisman Mukherjee in Ishti Kutum and is currently playing the role of ACP Ronojoy Chatterjee in Kusum Dola. Brooding and intense, Rrishi is the quintessential hero who makes women go weak in the knees.

Vikram ChatterjeeVikram debuted on TV with Saat Pake Bandha and took a ‘big’ leap with Mainak Bhowmik’s Bedroom. He played the lead in Bappaditya Bandopadhyay’s Elar Char Adhyay and followed it up with Debarati Gupta’s Hoichoi. His next was Mainak’s Ami Ar Amar Girlfriends and Anjan Das’s Ajana Batas. Over the past two years, Vikram balanced his career in TV and films with equal elan. His megaserial, Ichche Nodi, was a runaway hit and Vikram was praised for his roles in Shaheb Bibi Golaam, Meghnadbadh Rahashyo and Khoj. The actor was mired in a controversy in his personal life that kept him away from the limelight for a while, but he is back with Phagun Bou, a new megaserial, which is garnering good TRPs.

3. Rohaan Bhattacharjee
In 2008, after completing a diploma course in acting, Rohaan bagged a blink-and-miss role in the serial Basundhara. The actor was in Bangladesh when he got a call from the channel, which spotted his pictures on Facebook and wanted to cast him in Bhojo Gobindo. Rohaan came back from Bangladesh, met the people from the channel, did his look test and was on board. The character Gobindo, he feels, is a dream for any actor, as it has many shades. A regular at macha shows, his line — Ranna kora, bason maja, kapor kacha, kutno kata, juto selai theke chondi path sob korteh pari; namta mone rakhben, Go-bin-do — is earning him brownie points.

4. Arjun Chakrabarty
Son of famous parents Sabyasachi and Mithu Chakrabarty, Arjun got his first break on TV with Gaaner Oparey and was mentored by the likes of Rituparno Ghosh and Prosenjit Chatterjee. His debut film, Bapi Bari Jaa, was also from Prosenjit’s production house and Arjun entertained us with movies like Jodi Love Dile Na Prane, Chirodini… Tumi Je Amar 2, Maacher Jhol and others. He played a bit role in Bollywood film Pink in 2016, did the TV series Byomkesh Episodes: Sajarur Kanta and despite an enviable line-up of films for the coming year, including Crisscross and Guptodhoner Sandhane, Arjun moved to television one more time with Jamai Raja.

Even before he ventured into television, Pratik got his break in films. He did movies like Bodyguard, Sohra Bridge, Chol Kuntal and Bhalobashar Bari opposite Rituparna Sengupta. Khokababu is his debut serial, where Pratik plays an idealist. Pratik wants to continue straddling the two industries — television and films — as they serve as platforms to showcase his talent. A regular on macha shows, Pratik says when people tell him they want a son like Khokababu, it gives him a high like no other.

He began his career with a bit role in Sholoana, but Rezwan aka Sunny became a household name after his tryst with the megaserial Aanchal. After that roles started coming to him by the dozen. Currently, the actor is part of Protidaan, where he plays Neel Sen, a rich kid, who flunked in exams year after year. He not only manages to pass, but also excels in music — his first love. Even in real life, Sunny is a self-taught musician, who plays the piano and the guitar.

He forayed into television with Tomay Amay Mileh, but Gourab became famous as Subhojit Mukherjee aka Subho, a business tycoon in Subhodrishti. A man who is both arrogant and vulnerable, the character helped him showcase his acting chops. The turning point in Gourab’s career was the web series Six, which helped him bag the role. Gourab, who struggled to reach where he is today, lost his father at an early age. Once a part of Kaushik Sen’s theatre group, Gourab feels even though stage remains his first love, it was difficult to earn a living by just doing shows. To hone his skills, Gourab watches films at home on a regular basis.

He plays Dr Porimal Mitra, husband of protagonist Parama Mitra, in Goyenda Ginni and wowed everyone as Sujon Kumar in Potol Kumar Ganwala. Currently, he has got under the skin of the king of Bhawal in Sanyashi Raja.

9. Gazi Abdun Noor
He is a guy from Bangladesh who came to Kolkata eight years back. He did his honours in drama from Rabindra Bharati University and completed Masters in journalism and mass communication last year. He did a film in Bangladesh, which is yet to release. As luck would have it, he landed the lead role of Babu Raj Chandra Das in the serial Korunamoyee Rani Rashmoni and the audience can’t stop praising his looks and acting skills. Noor is upright like his character in the serial and his dream is to do meaty roles in films.

After Nana Ranger Dinguli, his debut venture on television, there was no looking back for Arunoday Banerjee, who later took on the screen name — Rahul. He then played the lead in Tumi Ashbe Bole and Swapno Udaan, among a few others.
