Bengali daily soap ‘Mithai’, which has already been remade in Odia (Jhilli) and Tamil (Ninaithale Inikkum), will now have its Hindi version soon. Prompted by the success of Mithai and her Uchchebabu’s story, the makers have decided to launch it in Hindi. Interestingly, in the Hindi remake, which is also titled ‘Mithai’, the titular role will be played by a Bengali girl.
Actress Debattama Saha of ‘E Amar Gurudakshina’ fame has been roped in to play Mithai’s character.

Adrit Roy starrer has tasted success on Bengali television, making it a number one show on the TRP charts for a long time. The simplicity of protagonist Mithai, her khatti meethi nok-jhok with ‘Uchchebabu’ Sid and big fat happy Modak family managed to woo Bengali audience soon after its launch. The story revolves around Mithai, a village belle, who has mastered the art of gourmet making as well as winning hearts with her ever-smiling behaviour. She sells sweets in the city. Mithai meets the Modak family who owns several gourmet shops in the city. She instantly bonds with them. Sid, on the other hand, is a modern guy who is just opposite of Mithai. Fate brings Sid and Mithai together after the former had to marry her under unavoidable circumstances. A simple story backed with a humorous touch helped ‘Mithai’ strike a connection with the audience soon after its launch. It will be interesting to see how the Hindi show fares on the TRP charts.
Interestingly, yet another popular Bengali TV show is going to have its Hindi remake. ‘Khukumoni Home Delivery’ featuring Rahul Mazumdar and Dipanwita Rakshit will also be remade in Hindi as ‘Banni Chow Delivery’.
