Sonamoni Saha teams up with Honey Bafna for a new show on Bengali television

Sonamoni Saha is ready to get married! But, on screen. The actress is set to return to Bengali television with yet another mega serial. This time, the popular face of Bengali TV has paired up with none other than Honey Bafna. Their new show ‘Shubho Bibaho’ is set to premiere on a popular Bengali television channel very soon. The promo for the show is out now.

The promo of ‘Shubho Bibaho’ shows a woman named Sudha, conversing with several men regarding marriage. According to the promo, Sudha is a divorcee and she doesn’t want to hide that information from someone she might be marrying in future. Sudha belongs to a middle-class household, where divorce is still taboo and people don’t shy away from giving a divorcee side-eye. The search for a suitable groom for Sudha is going in full swing, so that her sisters can get married as well. But as soon as the potential grooms and their families get to know about Sudha’s marital status, they take several steps back.

On the other hand, the promo allows the audience a glimpse of an aristocratic family ruled by a matriarch Kanan Devi. She turns Sudha down as the future bride for her grandson Tej. Talking about the criteria of a desirable bride for her grandson, Kanan Devi mentions ‘innocent, untouched and pure’. A divorcee woman is a misfit in that category.

Meanwhile, Sudha chooses to focus on her career. She works in a company that manages events and weddings. At a wedding reception, Sudha slips and Tej saves her from falling down. Their eyes meet and sparks fly. Will romance bloom against all odds?

‘Shubho Bibaho’ stars Sonamoni Saha as Sudha, as the female protagonist on the show. Honey Bafna is set to play the role of Tej on the show. Saswati Guhathakurta plays the character of Kanan Devi, the matriarch.

Sonamoni was last seen in ‘Ekka Dokka’, after ‘Mohor’, which aired on the same TV channel. On that show, she was paired up with Saptarshi Maulik. On the other hand, Honey Bafna has been a popular face on Bengali TV after working in serials like ‘Bokul Katha’, ‘Prothoma Kadambini’, ‘Sohag Jol’.
