Several women got inspired by my role in Sreemoyee: Indrani Halder

Actors often find themselves embracing important life lessons from the characters they portray. Indrani Halder, currently ruling prime-time television with her titular role in

Sreemoyee

, has learnt the importance of 'goodness'. "I don't share much similarity with my character, Sreemoyee, and the way her life twists and turns. But the character has now grown on me and I have learnt to see things from her perspective," she said.

The TV serial recently ran an

episode

, which declared a leap of three years and the subsequent development in all the characters' lives. Did Indrani prepare for further nuances in the role she is essaying? "I didn't require much preparation, but yes, the character is now more settled in life and the lesson I learnt has been reinstated. At many points in the story, I was told that I am playing a character who is almost stupid because of her extreme kindness towards everyone. People thought Sreemoyee's goodness was stupidity. But I learnt that it pays in the end to have a heart full of compassion. And I think many women have been inspired by this role," she shared.

With the embargo in state reinforced and extended, all TV and film shoots are stalled. When asked about the plans of her serial unit, Indrani said, "Like most TV serials, we too had shot a lot of scenes before the lockdown. But they are being used every day and we need freshly shot episodes."

Many believe that whenever there is a hurried leap in a TV serial, it is time for it to wrap. Writer-director Leena Gangopadhyay clarified all doubts by saying, "No, the serial will not conclude now. We will continue to show more episodes in the leap that has been shown."
