Senior artist Deepankar De loses daughter Vaishali Kuriakose

Deepankar De, one of the finest artists of this industry, has lost his elder daughter Vaishali Kuriakose. She was in her early 50s and was admitted to a private hospital, off E.M Bypass, Kolkata. Vaishali was suffering from multiple issues including heart and kidney related ailments, sources suggest. She was admitted to the hospital a few days back. Yesterday night, she suffered a massive heart attack, according to the hospital sources. Vaishali’s husband Anil Kuriakose is also related to Bengali entertainment industry. He works as a creative director.
Vaishali is the daughter of veteran actor Deepankar De, from his previous marriage. He has another daughter who is younger to Vaishali. The 79-year-old actor, who has been hospitalized multiple times in past two years for different health issues, is devastated by the news. Deepankar is now married to actress Dolon Roy.
Condolence messages have been pouring in for the bereaved family. Many celebrities, who have worked with the senior artist, have expressed their grief.
On the professional front, Deepankar, is one of the most versatile actors of Bengali film industry who has also contributed towards small screen as an artist. The noted actor has worked with many eminent directors including Satyajit Ray, Mrinal Sen and Tapan Sinha. Satyajit Ray directed ‘Jana Aranya’ , ‘Ganashatru’, ‘Shakha Prashakha’, ‘Agantuk’, Mrinal Sen’s ‘Akaler Shandhaney’, Tapan Sinha directed ‘Banchharamer Bagan’ Aparna Sen’s ‘Parama’, Rituparno Ghosh directed ‘Chitrangada’, are some of his movies.
On the small screen front, the senior actor has been featured in a number of television shows in the recent past including ‘Canning Er Minu’, ‘Khukumoni Home Delivery’, ‘Jai Kanhaiya Laalki’ and others.
He married Dolon in January 2020. They have been together for many years prior to tying the knot.
