While Rupankar’s social media handles are flooded with comments from fans expressing their ‘disappointment’, he has reportedly been getting threat calls since last night soon after the news of KK’s sudden demise became public. On Wednesday, Chaitali and Rupankar were shooting for ‘Ismart Jodi’ but the repeated 'threat calls' reportedly forced the couple to seek help from police.
KK had shows lined up in Kolkata and fans were eagerly waiting for the events. A huge crowd, mostly college students, turned up at the venue without a pass and almost crashed the gate during events. Social media was flooded with the videos of KK’s LIVE performances. The ‘massive response’ from KK’s fans apparently left Rupankar ‘disappointed’. In a Facebook LIVE session, he compared KK’s performance with other artists of Bengal and questioned why fans don’t show ‘equal enthusiasm’ when regional singers perform.
On Monday evening, Rupankar, in a Facebook LIVE said, “KK is a wonderful singer. I was holding online classes and watching videos where I saw KK’s LIVE performance. After watching his LIVE videos, I have realised that we all perform better than him.” What Rupankar referred by ‘us’ was earlier explained in his video where he spoke about himself, Anupam Roy, Somlata Acharya, Iman Chakraborty, Raghab Chatterjee, Monomoy Bhattacharya, band Cactus and other talented artists of Bengal.

Now, Iman has clarified her side and explained that she doesn’t support his statement. Iman said, “While I respect Rupankar Da and that he spoke in favour of Bengali artists, I don’t support his statement on KK. I think others whose names are mentioned in his video will also support my view,” she said.

“I am feeling very very restless after learning about KK’s shocking demise. I have watched his performance and he was a legend,” she said. Iman, who will soon be seen in Sa Re Ga Ma Pa as a mentor, shared that the response to a show by eminent singers like KK is natural. “He is a wonderful singer and the response is quite natural. I have heard him performing LIVE. On the other hand, I have seen audiences going crazy during Rupam Da’s show, Somlata’s show and others as well. Those audiences, who are excited about KK, made me who I am,” she also said.
