Rubel Das to Geetashree Roy: Here’s how these Bengali actors are celebrating Bhai Phonta

There can’t be a better companion than a brother just like there can’t be a better friend than a sister. And ‘Bhai Phonta’ celebrates this eternal bond. The love and warmth between brothers and sisters make the day special. Well, the occasion isn’t complete without family adda, enjoying yummy food and exchanging gifts. Our popular actors have already planned the day. Let’s take a look... (Photo: Facebook)

Shrabani Bhunia

Every year on Bhai Phonta, Shrabani makes it a point to visit her native place Contai, no matter what! “I always inform my shooting unit two months prior that I will visit my home on Bhai Phonta. This year, it won’t be an exception. We are a joint family and along with my sibling, my cousins look forward to spend the occasion with me. One of my brothers who stays in Pune, came early this year for Bhai Phonta,” she says. The actress has bought beautiful gifts for her brothers. “I have bought the same kurta for all my brothers. They all will wear it for Phonta. We also have a plan to pay a quick visit to Mandarmani or Tajpur depending on the circumstances,” she adds. Shrabani is playing Jhilam's role in TV show 'Jibon Saathi'.

Adrija Addy Roy

Adrija, who is from Dakshineswar, tries to visit home on Bhai Phonta. She says, "Bhai Phonta is more like a family reunion for us. You will get a puja vibe at our home around this time. My uncles, aunt, other relatives- we all gather and celebrate the day with full enthusiasm. We share a good relationship with the in-laws of my uncle too. And they too join us on Bhai Phonta. I am really blessed to have cousin brothers who love me very much. I have bought gifts for them,” says Adrija.

Rubel Das

Just like another doting brother, Rubel looks forward to this day. “I am blessed with some really beautiful sisters. My maternal uncle and aunt’s daughters wait for me on Bhai Phonta. So, I make sure to reach on time no matter how busy the schedule is. A few of them are young. In fact, the youngest sister is 6 years (laughs),” says Rubel with a bright smile on his face. Exchanging gifts on Bhaiphonta is yet another beautiful tradition. “Since I don’t get time to buy gifts, I ask my Dada and Boudi to handle the department (laughs),” adds the actor who is playing the lead in 'Jamuna Dhaki'.

Geetashree Roy

Geetashree has a younger brother. “It will be a homely affair. After Phonta, we will go out and have lunch outside,” says the actress. The gift from her brother left Geet all overwhelmed. “Life is beautiful if you have a brother like mine. He gifted me earbuds after my mobile phone’s speaker started giving me a hard time. For him, I am buying a laptop,” says the proud sister. She is currently busy with Sean Banerjee-Drijla Guha starrer 'Mon Phagun'.

Dibyojyoti Dutta

Dibyojyoti is blessed to have some doting sisters from the entertainment industry besides having a younger sibling. He says, “I have quite some plan on Bhai Phonta. I have a younger sister. After celebrating Phonta with her, I will visit two of my elder sisters who are also from the entertainment industry. Debjani Di and Debolina Di love me very much. There is no way I can miss celebrating Rakhi or Bhai Phonta with them. They will kill me.” He laughed out loud. Then he adds, “On a serious note, I feel blessed to have such loving elder sisters in my life.” (Photo: Facebook)

Sourya Bhattacharya

“I am blessed with a beautiful family and some cool cousins without whom life is incomplete. We have loads of fun whenever we get time. On Bhai Phonta, the entire day will be family time. After Phonta, we will have lunch and go out. We also have plans to watch a movie,” says Sourya. He has bought some special gifts for his sisters, too.
