‘Roshnai’ has taken a sharp turn in its storyline after Sudarshana’s death. The female protagonist of the show, Roshnai, is a dancing protégé living in Banaras. She inherits her talent in dancing from her mother Sudarshana. However, Roshnai’s life turns upside down after Sudarshana’s death. After Sudarshana’s death, Rajesh, the antagonist of the show, decides to marry Roshnai. Being aware of Rajesh’s background and his nature, Roshnai plans to run away from the wedding venue.
Aranyak, a soft-spoken photographer and the male protagonist of the show, bumps into Roshnai while she was fleeing from the wedding venue. Aranyak and Roshnai end up at a ghat in Benaras and are forced to get married. Aranyak later decides to take her to Kolkata along with himself. In Kolkata, while waiting for Aranyak, Roshnai turns around and sees Rajesh approaching her with a gun in hand. Rajesh threatens to Kill Aranyak if he doesn’t let Roshnai go. Aranyak takes the vermillion on a whim and applies that on Roshnai’s forehead in front of Rajesh, and asks him to leave his wife alone. Garima, Aranyak’s girlfriend, appears in the scene as Rajesh is fuming at Aranyak’s deed. Garima is stunned to see Roshnai there, but she thinks Roshnai is already married to Rajesh. Garima takes Aranyak away leaving Roshnai and Rajesh behind, and Roshnai wakes up from the nightmare at this moment. Will Roshnai’s nightmare turn into reality once she reaches Kolkata?
‘Roshnai’, helmed by writer, director and producer Leena Gangopadhyay and directed by Saibal Banerjee, stars actress Anushka Goswami in the titular role. Sean Banerjee plays the character of the male protagonist, Aranyak, in ‘Roshnai’. Sean is one of the most popular heroes on Bengali television. The model-turned-actor rose to fame with his portrayal of Dr Ujaan Chattrjee in the romantic medical drama series ‘Ekhane Aakash Neel’. ‘Roshnai’ stars Kamalika Banerjee, Reshmi Sen, Ushasie Chakraborty, Sudip Mukherjee, Lekha Chatterjee, Tathagata Mukherjee among other characters.
