Rohaan Bhattacharyya-Susmita Dey starrer ‘Aparajita Apu’ to end soon

Daily soap ‘Aparajita Apu’ is going to end its journey on Bengali television. Actor Rohaan Bhattacharyya play the male lead in the show while newbie Susmita Dey played the titular role. The TV show used to score well on the TRP charts and was most spotted in the second place right after ‘Mithai’ until recently. But the show hasn’t been scoring from the past few weeks which is one of the probable reasons behind the channel’s decision, industry sources suggest.Despite introducing new twists in the story, the show couldn’t make it to the top five club.
Eyeing on the viewership, the makers introduced back-to-back twists in the story and entry of a new character named Sunaina (played by Priyanka Bhattacharya) to spice up the storyline. ‘Aparajita Apu’ also aired protagonist Apu’s accidental death as well as the entry of her look alike. But the new tweaks and turns couldn’t cast a spell on the TRP charts.
Meanwhile, the rumours of ‘Aparajita Apu’ going off-air, has been doing the rounds for quite some time. The speculations were further fuelled by the change of its time slot. Recently, the newly launched TV show ‘Gouri Elo’ replaced Aparajita Apu’s time slot.
‘Aparajita Apu’ narrates the story of a girl who aspires to be an independent girl. She gets married to Deepu, who is from a joint family. How Apu manages her household and fulfills her dream make the major crux of the story. Susmita as Apu won a million hearts with her bubbly persona. Her reel chemistry with Rohaan is yet another reason behind the show's popularity.
The cast and crew of the show are currently busy shooting. The team is scheduled to wrap up the shoot by next week, industry sources suggest. Laboni Sarkar, Sohini Banerjee, Soume Chatterjee starrer ‘Uron Tubri’ is going to replace the show.
