Pulwama Attack: Bengali TV actors pay homage to the martyrs
The latest terror attacks on the CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s
Draped in the tricoloured flag, the coffins carrying the mortal remains of CRPF personnel Bablu Santra and constable Sudip Biswas, who martyred in the attack, were flown into Kolkata on Saturday. Emotions were high as sustained cries of 'Vande Mataram' and 'Bharat Mata Ki Jai' rent the air as hundreds of people paid homage to the two brave hearts.
Bengali television actors too paid homage to the martyrs. Some decided to sing a song and bid a goodbye to the soldiers, some decided to blacken their profile picture on their social networking handles while some vowed to never celebrate Valentine’s day and termed it as a 'Black Day'.
Actress Madhubani Goswami, who is presently seen in fantasy drama ‘Saat Bhai Champa’, decided to pay tribute to the soldiers by singing a popular patriotic song.
She said, “I am angry…very much angry at the cowardly act of these terrorists. We can’t tolerate anymore! We should take a strong stand against terrorism globally. As a common man I feel helpless.” Madhubani, who is a trained singer, went emotional as she spoke to TimesofIndia.com.
The actress decided to pay tribute and dedicated a song to the brave hearts.

“I can’t explain you my emotions. The name of the on-screen character that I used to play in Rangiye Diye Jao was also Bablu. I feel proud to have played the character. I don’t consider the similarity in names a mere coincidence. I am proud that we have fighters like Bablu Santra among us in the border fighting hard to keep our nation safe,” said Jeetu. His voice choked as he described how he felt seeing on television as Bablu and Sudip’s family members performed their last rites.
“I have childhood friends who are in the Indian army. I can’t express how proud I feel when I meet them. The sacrifice made by them and their families can’t be explained with words. I want to be the Bablu who can sacrifice his life without thinking twice,” said the actor.
