Panchami’s promo featuring a newborn attached to a snake instead of umbilical cord becomes fodder for trolls, a netizen wrote: ‘RIP biology’

Upcoming show ‘Panchami’, starring Susmita Dey as the female lead is making quite some buzz for wrong reasons. Ever since the very first promo of the show went on-air, featuring a scene where an expecting lady gives birth to a baby. While the stormy weather and unusual circumstances under which the lady gives birth to her daughter added ‘dramatic’ moments to the scene a particular sequence from the promo seems to have gone ‘too far’ and viewers are ‘unable to digest’ it.

The promo shows a lady who undergoes labour pain, somehow manages to reach a nearby temple. She seeks help from the priest. After the delivery, when then the camera pans towards the baby, instead of the umbilical cord that connects the baby to the mother's placenta, a snake can be seen. It leaves the priest shocked and he questions, whether the baby girl is a human. This particular scene has raised several questions including how the makers can replace umbilical cord with a serpentine just for the sake of ‘creative liberty’! Although the makers have put a disclaimer stating it is just a work of 'fantasy', the promo, however, has already become fodder for trolls and netizens are ‘criticising’ the makers for such scenes that defies science.
A social media user wrote, ‘RIP biology’, while another user wrote, ‘Narir bodoley saap.. biology be like: main kya karu? job chor du?’ sic.
Yet another fan, took to the social media to write, ‘Umbilical cord er jagay snake! biology suicide koreche. sic’

Social media is full of such comments where fans ‘questioned’ the ‘science’ behind such a scene.
This is not the first time, a daily soap is being trolled for ‘defying science’. A few days back, a scene from Hindi TV show ‘Naagmani’ was heavily trolled for airing a scene where the protagonists were seen flying in the sky that too holding a small kite. While a section of netizens questioned the makers how ‘gravity’ can be defied so easily some wondered how the small kite became suddenly so giant that it could bear the weight of two grown up people.

Several times, Bengali daily soaps have been trolled for different reasons. Be it the ‘sindoor daan’ scene from ‘Aay Tobe Sohochori’ where the vermilion suddenly fell on the antagonist’s forehead and the garlands were accidentally exchanged pronouncing her to be married, to Gouri Elo’s female protagonist worshipping the photo of Monalisa after mistaking her as a god, several TV shows became fodder for trolls for their logic defying scenes.
