New Bengali TV channel to launch in February

A leading Tamil Satellite television broadcasting network will launch its Bengali channel next month. The channel has been gearing up for its launch from the past few months although no official date was announced.
Now, the channel authority has announced that it will be launched on February 3. According to sources, the upcoming Bengali television channel has started shooting for its television serials from the last quarter of 2018.
Speculations are rife that the general entertainment channel will launch family dramas, mythological serials and period dramas as well to entertain the viewers. A number of popular actors have been contacted by the channel for various shows. And almost all leading production houses are making television shows for this channel. According to sources, the channel is keen making shows based on ‘Beder meye Jyothsna’ or ‘Chand Sodagar’.
Presently in West Bengal, there is a stiff competition between three leading general entertainment channels. Shows like ‘Krishnakoli’, ‘Rani Rashmoni’, ‘Phagun Bou’ or ‘Debi Chowdhurani’ often dominate the TRP charts. It will be interesting to watch how the launch of this new television channel affects the current dynamics.
