Actress Moumita Chakraborty is all set to rock the small screen in her new avatar.
Rolling her big eyes in wonder and mouthing hai re Hari every minute, the pishima in Bojhena Shey Bojhena is quite a hit with the telly viewers. But in real life, Moumita Chakraborty is neither ‘howlarious’ nor so pishima!
The actress’ last film was Swapan Saha’s Kortabya opposite Prosenjit Chatterjee and after that, she took an eightyear hiatus to do jatra.
“Out of sight is out of mind, especially in our profession. But thanks to Bojhena Shey Bojhena, I’m back to making a place in the audience’s heart. Eight years back, the pay structure was extremely poor in Tollywood and since I needed money, I decided to do jatra. My love for jatra and handsome pay package were the main reasons why I stayed away from Tollywood for so long,” says Moumita. The actress admits that she was taken aback when the role came her way. “I was in a dilemma as I had to not just speak in suddh bangal bhasha but also portray a character much older to me. I found it challenging and therefore, took up the project. Frankly, I was all nerves initially and would give several takes for a shot. Now, I’m referred to as pishima and not Moumita,” adds the actress. Moumita is also essaying the role of Sunanda in the serial, Maa. “She is the mother of a confused young girl. It is easier to play Sunanda than pishima,” she says.
