MOU between Artists' Forum and WATP finally gets signed; highlights working hours and other issues

The MOU between West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum and Welfare Association of TV Producers has been finally signed yesterday (August 12). Keeping the welfare of artists in mind, Artists Forum has always emphasised on signing the MOU which was pending until now.

The MOU between West Bengal Motion Picture Artists’ Forum and Welfare Association of TV Producers has been finally signed yesterday (August 12). Keeping the welfare of artists in mind, Artists Forum has always emphasised on signing the MOU.
The members of Artists’ Forum including Diganta Bagchi, Shankar Chakraborty, Shantilal Mukhopadhyay were present in the meeting. While from the Producers’side Saibal Banerjee, Sunny Ghosh Roy and others attended the meeting which went on till late night.
The MOU emphasises on working hours, remuneration, payments in case of extra time and addresses other issues.
There will be a fixed time for the artists. Not only that, from now on the artists can't be kept occupied unnecessarily.
Several times, the artists complained about remuneration and extended work hours. Many have been vocal about their due payments too. The issues between producers and artists reportedly went out of proportion and affected the shoot in the past. Several eminent artists in the past had filed complain in the Artists’ Forum regarding the issue.
On the other hand, technicians have also been vocal about their issues. For a smooth workflow, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had asked Parambrata Chattopadhyay and filmmaker Raj Chakraborty to hold a meeting and sort out the problems.
