Madhumita Sarkar to play Maa Durga on small screen

As the smell of Durga Puja slowly wafts in, Bengal is gearing up to welcome Maa Durga. With Mahalaya, the bouquet of Puja festivities officially begins. It is an auspicious day observed by the people of Bengal, which marks the onset of debipokkho. Showcasing yet another rendition of Maa Durga’s story, a private channel is gearing up to present Mahisashur Mardini. This year’s episode will see popular face of the small screen, Madhumita Sarkar, portraying the role of Maa Durga. The show has been directed by filmmaker Kamaleshwar Mukherjee while the music for it has been arranged by Debajyoti Mishra. The story of Maa

The show has an ensemble cast where several artistes will be portraying the devi’s many forms. While Madhumita will be playing the part of Mahisashur Mardini, Rooqma Ray, Shyamoupti Mudly, Sudipta, Pratyusha and Sohini will be seen as the different avatars of Maa Durga. Jeetu Kamal will be seen portraying the role of Lord Shiva. The opening and the closing act have been performed by actress Indrani Halder.
