‘Ananda Ashram’, featuring legendary artist Soumitra Chatterjee in a prominent role, is finally going to stream on a popular OTT platform. It was the last web series of the legendary artist, who passed away in November, 2020. Directed by Arijeet Chakraborty, the series will premiere on Mahalaya.
It has an ensemble cast that includes Sumanta Mukherjee, Rudranil Ghosh, Biswanath Basu, Prantik Banerjee and Swastika Dutta. It was Swastika’s first web series.
The shooting was cut in half after the sudden demise of veteran artist Soumitra Chatterjee. Later, the team resumed work and wrapped up the shooting in 2021. And after a long wait, the web series is finally going to stream on a popular Bengali OTT channel.
‘Ananda Ashram’ has an interesting storyline. Although it is a horror story, the makers have promised, it isn’t ‘too horrifying’. Rather, Ananda Ashram’s story has an emotional touch which, the makers hope, will certainly bring a different flavour to the story. The storyline revolves around an old mansion and two generations. The shooting was done in some of the beautiful locations in Kolkata and it’s surrounding as well as Andul. This is the first time Swastika and Prantik have teamed up as a reel pair for a project. Biswanath, Rudranil and Sumanta will be seen portraying pivotal roles in this soon-to-be-streamed web series.
