Tiyasha Lepcha, who became a household name to Bengali audience by playing protagonist
Shyama in the daily soap ‘Krishnakoli’, has a new project in her kitty. Industry sources suggest that the actress will be seen in the upcoming television serial produced by Susanta Das. The actress is one of the top choices of leading Bengali channels and had a few offers in her kitty.
The new television serial will feature Tiyasha in a completely different avatar, unlike village belle Shyama. The promo will soon be shot by the makers. Interestingly, the new show will be aired on the prime channel that airs daily soap ‘Gantchhora’.
Neel Bhattacharya starrer ‘Krishnakoli’ was an instant hit. A simple storyline, strong cast and protagonist Shyama’s struggle managed to strike a connection with the Bengali audience. The story which revolved around Shyama, a talented Keertaniya who had to face a lot because of her skin tone, not only stole the hearts of Bengali audience but also the viewers of other regions. ‘Krishnakoli’ has been remade in Telugu, Kannada and Bhojpuri while its Odia dubbed version also got a good response.
After Krishnakoli’s success, Tiyasha hosted the cookery show ‘Rannaghar’ in the absence of Sudipa Chatterjee. The latter had tested positive for COVID-19 and couldn’t shoot for quite some time. She took a brief break to unwind herself and was mostly seen attending award ceremonies and special events. On the personal front, she and Suban Roy also finalised the divorce.
