Many Bengali shows are being remade into different languages. Keeping the tradition alive, comedy-drama ‘Khorkuto’ has been remade in
Tamil
as ‘
Namma Veetu Ponnu
’. The
Tamil show
Surjith Kumar and Ashwini Aanandita in the lead roles was launched this week. Khorkuto’s story is penned by Leena Gangopadhyay who is also writing for Hindi show ‘
Thoda Sa Badal Thoda Sa Pani
’ along with a few other TV serials.
Weaved against the backdrop of a big fat happy joint family, TV serial ‘Khorkuto’ received a good response for its light hearted comedy and emotional moments in the story. The Tamil show will also have a similar storyline although a few changes have been introduced keeping the audience in mind.
Meanwhile, ‘Khorkuto’ completed a year on Bengali television. It has an ensemble cast that includes some of the finest and senior most actors of this industry including Dulal Lahiri, Chandan Sen,
Sohini Sengupta, Ratna Ghosal, Badshah Moitra and others. It also features Ambarish Bhattacharya, Anushree Das, Rajanya Mitra, Debottam Majumder,

enjoy a good fan following. The feel-good factor in the story and the bond among the members of a joint family managed to strike a bond with the audience. The show started scoring well on the TRP charts right after its launch.
