‘Joyee’ fame Debadrita Basu bags a new project
Bengali TV’s very own footballer bahu Joyee, who could bend it like Beckham, handle her household, and beat up the goons all alone, managed to win the hearts of Bengali audience almost immediately after the show’s launch. It made debutante protagonist Joyee aka Debadrita Basu a household name as well. The actress has been giving the small screen a miss after the devotional show ‘Sri Krishna Bhakta Meera’ concluded its journey and fans have been majorly missing her. But not anymore! Industry sources suggest, that the actress will soon be seen in a new daily soap.
A leading Bengali production house has approached her for their upcoming family-drama and the actress has given a nod as well. If everything falls into place then, the project will soon hit the floor. Debadrita, who essayed Meerabai’s role in her last project, will be seen in a completely different character in the upcoming TV show.
While Debadrita’s debut show starring Dibyojyoti Dutta and her as the lead pair, was an instant hit, and the next project ‘Alo Chhaya’ also managed to earn popularity among the audience, ‘Sri Krishna Bhakta Meera’ went off-air much sooner than expected. It starred Prarabdhi Singhawhich as Lord Krishna and Joyee Debroy as Raja Bhoj. It had a very strong cast that also included Bhaswar Chatterjee, Sudip Sarkar, Debdut Ghosh, and many others in different characters, had a very brief run on Bengali TV due to TRP issues. Since then, the young actress, has been missing from the small screen. Travelling, enjoying me-time and photoshoots kept Debadrita busy in the meantime.
