Joy Mukherjee is all set to return to the small screen after a gap of three years. Last seen in Choker Tara Tui, the actor will now be seen playing the lead in

Jiyonkathi

.
Speaking about his character, Rishi, he said, “First of all, I’m extremely happy that I’m back on television after so long. I’m very thankful to the production house for giving me this opportunity. I have worked with Leenadi (Ganguly) and Saibalda (

Mitra

) before. They are like family to me. It is also my first work with Oindrila, who plays the female lead. So, the team is a combination of old and new working together. The story is quite interesting and I am really looking forward to the audience’s reaction.”

In the serial, Rishi is a district magistrate. Work brings him to a small town called Sagardighi where Jahnabi lives with her mother. Janhabi gets hit by Rishi’s car on the very first day of his arrival in Sagardighi. To run the family, Janhabi’s mother decides to take up the job of a cook, but incidentally ends up at Rishi’s house. When Jahnabi tries to go and meet her mother, she’s stopped by the security guards. Janhabi creates a ruckus and right at that moment, Rishi arrives. He allows her to go inside, but she gets branded as a disobedient, arrogant and rude girl. Janhabi takes Rishi’s lunch to his office as requested by Gadai. But Rishi insults her publicly for that and Jahnabi replies back strongly. The bitter relationship between her daughter and employer causes Janhabi’s mother to worry about the possibility of losing her job. The story then takes a turn from that point.
