I hope I am able to do justice to the character Ujaan : Sean

A Bengali private channel is all set to air the reboot of

Ekhane Aakash Neel

, one of the most popular telly shows of the mid-2000s.The new version of the serial is a modern take on the love story of

Ujaan

and

Hiya

. In the new version, actor Sean Banerjee will be seen as the young and suave Dr Ujaan while Anamika Chakraborty will be stepping into the shoes of the effervescent Hiya.

When heart surgeon Ujaan meets the simple and warm doctor-to-be Hiya, sparks fly. Ujaan hails from a wealthy and emotionally arid family where he has been conditioned to guard his feelings and to not express his true emotions. Hiya, on the other hand, hails from a small village in the hills and moves to the city in order to fulfil her dream of becoming a doctor. She joins a

nursing home

as an intern where she meets Ujaan.

Their vastly different upbringing reflects in their personalities. Ujaan believes that being emotional is a weakness when it comes to his profession. Hiya is vivacious, full of life and an optimist. Though poles apart, their different approach towards life creates a clash of ideology at the nursing home, but their enmity soon turns into attraction and they eventually fall in love.

Sharing his excitement, Sean told us, “This is a new storyline and the characters are different even though their names are the same. Ujaan is a very smart, serious man and keeps things mostly to himself. There are a number of reasons because of which he is this way — including his upbringing. He has had a tragic past which will be revealed as the story unfolds. He is very professional when it comes to his work. 2019’s Ujaan is more complex than what he was like 10 years ago. I am having a great time playing this character. I hope I am able to do justice to it.”
