Here’s how Bengali television is celebrating Rath Yatra

Keeping the viewers in mind, leading television channels are set to air special episodes of non-fiction shows and daily soaps.

Rath Yatra holds a special place in the hearts of ‘aam Bangali’. Nothing can beat the joy of enjoying ‘jilipi and papor bhaja’ at ‘Rather mela’. Owing to the pandemic, the Chariot festival which will begin on July 12, will see many restrictions. The famous Rath Yatra in Puri will be held following COVID-19 protocols as well. But the pandemic couldn’t dampen the spirit of the devotees.
Keeping them in mind, the leading channels are ready to air special episodes on ‘Rath Yatra’. From hit films to special episodes of popular shows, leading TV channels are leaving no stones unturned to entertain the audience on the occasion of ‘Rath Yatra’.
Sabyasachi Chowdhury and Nabanita Das starrer ‘Mahapeeth Tarapeeth’ is airing special episodes on ‘Rath Yatra’. On the other hand, Gangaram’s story will also witness an interesting tweak during the festival.
Honey Bafna and Annmary Tom starrer ‘Gramer Rani’ will feature a major climax in ‘Rath Yatra’ special episodes. Protagonist Binapani will pray to Lord Jagannath for Shatadru’s well-being. He is hospitalised in a critical condition.
In daily soap ‘Boron’, bahurani Tithi is trying to make her in-laws a true blue Bengali. On the occasion of Rath Yatra, she will teach her in-laws how to enjoy ‘jilipi ar papor bhaja’ instead of burger and pizza. A lot of fun quotient awaiting in the storyline.
Cookery show ‘Rannaghar’ and Rachna Banerjee hosted game show ‘Didi No. 1’ will also air special episodes to celebrate the festival.
A popular channel will extend the weekend entertainment quotient a bit more. It will air back-to-back films on the weekends and Monday. Bengali movies ‘Bidroho’, ‘Shatru’ and ‘Khoka 420’ are slated for telecast on Sunday. While on Monday, it will air ‘Partner’, ‘Dujone’ and ‘Bondhu’ to double the entertainment quotient.
