From Koneekica Banerjee to Rooqma Ray – Tele celebs turn up to demand justice over RG Kar rape-murder incident

Bengal is refusing to dial down on its demand for justice over the RG Kar rape-murder case. The film fraternity of Tollygunge put together a demonstration a week back, to protest against the atrocities towards women and demand justice for the victim of RG Kar rape-murder incident and her family. A week from that protest rally, Bengali television artists and technicians came together to march on the streets of Kolkata with the same demands. Take a look.

​Koneenica Banerjee, an actress who has worked across all platforms, walked in the protest rally on Sunday evening and conveyed an important message. Koneenica, being a mother to daughter, urged the Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee to take all the required steps to ensure women’s safety and demanded justice for the victim and her family.

​Rooqma Ray is one of the well-known faces in the Bengali entertainment industry. Rooqma has been a part of web series like ‘Noshtoneer’ that has advocated strongly for women’s rights and doing right by them. Rooqma joined the protest rally that took place in Tollygunge on Sunday evening.

​Shruti Das, who rose to fame by portraying strong women characters on Bengali TV shows, has been quite vocal about the RG Kar rape-murder incident on social media. The popular actress even registered her own dissent with a dance performance a few days back. Shruti participated in the protest rally on August 25.

​Manasi Sinha, who is an acclaimed actress and filmmaker, was seen out on the street on August 25 along with her colleagues from the entertainment industry. The actress was seen sloganeering demanding justice for the RG Kar rape-murder victim and her family.

​Rahul, the well-known actor who has always been outspoken on social affairs and the political scenario, was seen taking to the streets on Sunday evening despite heavy rain. The actor marched along with his fellow colleagues demanding justice.

​Joyjit Banerjee, the well-known actor of Tollywood, is known for his sense of humour and his taste in satire. The actor has been actively putting up his dissent on both social media and on the streets. Joyjit participated in the protest rally on August 25 and lent his voice in sloganeering during the demonstration.
