'Dance Bangla Dance' set to make a comeback on Bengali television

‘Dance Bangla Dance’ is set for a grand return to Bengali television. One of the most popular dance reality shows on Bengali TV, DBD, is gearing up for its 13th season. Although details about the dance reality show are still under wraps, the preparations for the grand auditions for the show are already underway. The audition doors are opening for people later this month. On October 25 and 27, the grand auditions of ‘Dance Bangla Dance’ will be held in Darjeeling and Siliguri respectively. Afterward, auditions in the other districts will follow.

‘Dance Bangla Dance’ started its journey on Bengali television back in 2007. Owing to its popularity amongst the viewers, it was later remade in Hindi, with the title ‘Dance India Dance’. The first season of DBD was hosted by radio personality, actor, and comedian Mir. Legendary Bengali actor Mithun Chakraborty has been associated with DBD as a grandmaster for a long time. He returned to his post on the show last season.

After Mir in the first season, ‘Dance Bangla Dance’ gave its hosting duties to the duo Aritra Dutta Banik and Tathoi Deb. Aritra continued hosting the dance reality show for three consecutive seasons. Bengali actors Vikram Chatterjee, Ankush Hazra too graced the show as hosts. The 11th season of DBD was hosted by Vikram and Ankush both. However, for the 12th season of DBD, Ankush reprised his role as the host of the show alone, after gracing the judge’s chair in the previous two seasons.

Apart from the choice of hosts, ‘Dance Bangla Dance’ has exhibited an interesting array of judges over the years as well. From Dev, Soham Chakraborty, Jisshu Sengupta to Rachana Banerjee, Swastika Mukherjee, Nusrat Jahan – many well-known celebrities of Tollywood have taken up judging duties of the show. Actress Srabanti Chatterjee has been serving as a judge of the reality show for the last few seasons before Subhashree Ganguly joined her in season 11. Subhashree and Srabanti were joined by Bollywood actresses Mouni Roy and Puja Banerjee in the last season. As per the buzz, Subhasree, Srabanti, and Mouni might also return for the latest season of DBD.

However, owing to Mithun Chakraborty’s health conditions, the makers of DBD might approach a new grandmaster for the show. Details on that are still under wraps.

As the grand auditions of ‘Dance Bangla Dance’ are about to start in late October, the new and 13th season of the dance reality show will go live on Bengali TV sometime around March-April, next year.
