Popular show ‘Dadagiri Unlimited Season 9’ hosted by Sourav Ganguly witnessed some memorable partnerships between couples whose love story goes beyond borders. The show welcomed couples Alexander Prokhorov (from Russia) and his wife Piyali Das Sharma, Pauline Laravoire (from France) and Meghdut Roy Chowdhury, Irina (originally from Ukraine) and Dr. Sourabh Dey, Ekaterina (from Russia)-Debasish Das, Sadhak Bhola Katari and his Japanese wife, as well as Kate Yamaguti (from Brazil) and Chandan Roy.
Alexander, Irina, Ekaterina, Kate, Pauline took the leap of faith in love and came to India. They eventually fell in love with the soil of Bengal and adapted the culture too. And Dadagiri’s latest episode was the proof that love can conquer everything be it geographical boundaries, cultural differences or anything else.
The spouces of the Bengali participants were certainly the star attraction of the last episode. Bengal’s jamai from Russia, and bahus from different parts of the world came and conquered the hearts of the audience with their ‘Bangaliyana’. Their knowledge in Bengali culture and passion to follow their heart without thinking about the cultural, geographical boundaries impressed Sourav. Alexander’s fluent Bengali, sense of humour and his effort to impress ‘Ginni’ (better half) Piyali, Irina’s ‘Lokkhir Panchali Patth’ and knowledge in 'Sahaj Patth', Pauline singing ‘Aaj Mon Cheyeche Aaj Hariye Jabo’ left host Sourav mesmerised. Ekaterina, on the other hand, wrote a letter to Dada in Bengali and expressed her admiration for the cricket legend. Kate too left Brazil after he fell in love with Chandan. She gladly told Sourav how she can cook Bengali delicacies including ‘Ilish Machh’ (Hilsa).
The couples shared how their love passed the acid test and crossed thousands of miles. Pauline and Meghdut met when the latter went to France. Alexander runs a business in West Bengal and Piyali is an assistant Professor. Several years back, he came to meet a professor in Jadavpur University and met Piyali who was a student then. They got married after a courtship of 3 years and already completed 22 years of marriage.
Ekaterina met her husband through social media and started having a conversation to learn English. She fell in love with him and left home. When Dada asked her how she could come to India and settle in Nadia, leaving everything behind, Ekaterina’s reply left him spell bound. She said, “I had blind faith in him.”
Host Sourav was all praises for participants. Right then, Ekaterina had a googly for Dada. She asked what if Sourav’s daughter, who is studying abroad falls in love with a foreigner. Witty Sourav shared that those thoughts keep making rounds in his mind. “These thoughts keep coming into my mind too, especially now that Sana is studying in London (laughs). But on a serious note, I won’t mind if he is a gentleman and independent.”
