Culinary show ‘Rannaghar’ to end soon; host Sudipa Chatterjee gets emotional on last day's shoot

Bengali TV has a number of cookery shows. Among these, Sudipa Chatterjee-hosted ‘Rannaghar’ enjoys unparalleled popularity. It is one of the longest-running cookery shows on Bengali TV. After 17 years of a successful run, ‘Rannaghar’ is finally coming to an end. The news is quite surprising for all the fans, mostly because of the show’s popularity.
The team shot for the last episode today (December 17).It was an overtly emotional moment for the entire team, especially host Sudipa, who became the face of the show. Her eyes became moist while shooting on Rannaghar’s set. On last day’s episode, actor-politician Kanchan Mullick was invited as the special guest. The makers made extravagant arrangements to make the last day’s shoot more special. The team had lunch together and celebrated their journey that has been quite successful.
Besides taking a maternity break, Sudipa hosted most of the episodes of ‘Rannaghar’. In her absence actress Aparajita Adhya, Maitreyee, Sreeparna Roy and Tiyasha Lepcha were seen hosting the show. But as Rannaghar’s host Sudipa’s popularity is unparalleled.
Launched in May 2005, ‘Rannaghar’ was an instant hit and it made Sudipa a household name. The show has crossed more than 5100 episodes and became one of the longest-running culinary shows on Bengali small screen. A new non-fiction show is likely to replace the time slot. The last episode will be aired on December 31, this year.
