Bijoyini actress Swastika Dutta gets injured during shoot, says 'show must go on'

(electric autorickshaw) only to get into the skin of the on-screen character, recently met with an accident while shooting. But that couldn’t stop her from continuing the shoot. Swastika lost her balance during one of the shots and fells from the stairs. Her foot got injured and the entire team was worried.

But like a true professional, she continued shooting. Swastika said, “We were shooting for a particular sequence and I was so engrossed into the scene that didn’t realise when I lost my balance. I rolled down through the stairs. My foot was injured and I can’t express how much the pain was. But the show must go on and I insisted to continue the shoot. I have a remarkable team and it is my second family. They took care of me. Later, at 11 pm I went to the hospital.”

The actress shared how happy she is with the response she is getting after stepping into the shoe of Keka, the protagonist of ‘

Bijoyini

’. Swastika said, “I am happy that the audience has accepted us. I’m grateful to them. It is not easy for an actor to essay a role, replacing another actor without viewers’support.”

The television serial has managed to entertain the audience with its new twists. From its storyline to the change in lead pair, the show has indeed featured a number of twists. Swastika and Rudrajit Mukherjee entered the show following such a twist, replacing the previous lead pair Imtiaz Haque and Lekha Chatterjee. The makers were not happy with the previous pair and decided to take Swastika and Rudrajit instead.

Now, the show is awaiting a huge twist. Following this, the entire storyline will change and Keka will be seen playing a pivotal role. The storyline of ‘Bijoyini’, started with a passionate dancer Keka (played by Swastika), who isn’t shy to pursue her dream of becoming a renowned dancer. From performing in ‘Macha’, to riding a toto to meet the daily expenses, Keka has to do all the odd jobs, to continue her struggle. She has to face a lot of stigma for performing in ‘macha’. Subarna, on the other hand is a famous dancer. Keka’s mother works as a househelp at Subarna’s residence. She ridiculed Keka, when she wanted to take dance lesson from her. The clash between Subarna and Keka saw its highest degree when the latter married Ritwik aka Rick, Subarna’s son.

But now the story will witness a major twist. Subarna’s (played by Anjana Basu) blast from the past will affect Rick and Keka’s family. After clashes when Subarna is about to hand over the responsibility of her dance academy to Keka, the entire family is forced to leave their home following Subarna’s former husband’s conspiracy. In the upcoming episodes, Keka will take care of the family and fight for justice while Rick will start a new business.

Swastika said, “I am happy with the new track. With this new storyline, my look will also change.” Talking about her co-stars Swastika said, how fortunate she is to share the screen with Anjana, who is known for her acting chops. Rudrajit, on the other hand, is quite helpful too. She said, “I am lucky to have such a good team. Rudrajit is a very good co-star and a humble person. He never hesitates to suggest me to do a particular scene in a different way. I have come across very few people who would actually do that.”
