Actress Shrabani Bhunia, who is playing a sprinter in ‘Kanak Kakon’, is having a gala time at her native place in Contai. Though she went to celebrate
Diwali with her family, Shrabani is excited to meet her brothers, who are coming home for ‘Bhai Phonta’.
The actress is from a joint family and all her cousin brothers and sister reunite to celebrate the occasion.
She said, “This year, I have managed leave for 3 days. I had a gala time during Diwali. I come from a joint family and most of my brothers (cousins) live out of Contai for education or job. Not all of us can manage time at the same time. So, Bhai Phonta is the time for all of us to reunite.” Shrabani’s voice reflects the festive mood she is enjoying with her big family. And she has quite some plans for ‘Bhai Phonta’. “I will give Phonta to my 8 brothers. As soon as we wrap up the ritual we happily exchange gifts. It’s so much fun,” she added. Well, that’s not all. Shrabani’s mom and aunt have prepared lip-smacking dishes. “We are a big happy family and quite a foodie too. The breakfast includes luchi, cholad daal, mishit and some fruits. Followed by a grand lunch, which is incomplete without fried rice and chilli chicken cooked by Maa, then there are other dishes prepared by my other aunts.”
As the elders are busy in the arrangement of the entire program, Shrabani enjoys gala time with her cousin brothers and sister. And that hasn’t changed even after she stepped into the glittery world. She said, “Our group includes my 8 brothers (cousin), me and my youngest uncle’s daughter, who is in class II. Except the junior most member of our group, the rest of us do all sort of mischievous activities. Every year, we target one among us and gang up against that poor fellow. We do all sort of things to make his life miserable. Well, they also target me and tease me a lot. We are yet to decide who will be the target this year. The fun we have during Bhai Phonta is beyond words.” Shrabani giggled as she shared.
But the actress misses her grandfather, whom she had lost last year. Shrabani said, “I miss Dadu very much. I was very close to my grandparents. I used to give Phonta to Dadu too. I still remember the smile he used to have after Phonta.”
