A series of Bengali shows ended their journey on the small screen within a short span of time. ‘Khukumoni Home Delivery’, ‘Bouma Ekghor’, ‘Khorkuto’, ‘Mon Phagun’ and a few more shows came to an end recently. Interestingly, not all TV shows that went off-air had low TRPs. Sean Banerjee-Srijla Guha’s ‘Mon Phagun’ used to score well and used to manage a spot in top 10 list often.

Amid this trend, ever since the time slot of upcoming show ‘Jagaddhatri’ has been announced at 7 pm, speculations were rife that daily soap ‘Uma’ is also ending. Sources suggest that the artists associated with TV show ‘Uma’ thought there would be a change in the time slot. But eventually, the news of its wrap up has been disclosed to the cast and crew leaving all of them disappointed. It came as a shocker since, ‘Uma’ scores decently and made its presence felt in the top 5 club for a long time too.
The shoot schedule of the show will end this week. Needless to say, the cast and crew are quite emotional as their journey is coming to an end. ‘Uma’, narrating the story of a talented female cricketer, initially received good response from the television audience. The show was launched last year in September introducing a new face as the female protagonist. Shinjinee, who had worked as a model, made her TV debut with this show. Bengali TV’s current favourite Neel is paired opposite her as the male lead.
