There seems to be a raining choice of Bengali shows for the telly audience. Right from reality shows, family-dramas to devotional TV serials, a lot of entertainment is in store for the audience. To spice up the entertainment quotient, the remake of a popular ‘Kannada’ show is also going to launch soon. ‘Sundari’, starring
Sushrita Ghosh
, in the titular role, is set to launch on July 19.
The success of the Kannada show prompted the makers to remake it in Bengali. The original version featured Kannada actors Aishwarya and Samiep. It was an instant hit and soon remade in Tamil featuring Gabrella Sellus and
Jishnu Menon as the lead pair.
Prior to this,
Sushrita
featured in the TV show ‘Jai Maa Santoshi’. Sources suggest, a leading actress was approached for the lead role first. She reportedly turned down the offer.
The daily soap will narrate the struggle of a girl who has to face a lot because of her dusky skin. Meanwhile, ever since the first promo went on-air, social media is abuzz with the ‘resemblance’ between ‘
Sunadri
’ and hit TV show ‘
Krishnakoli
’. Interestingly, ‘Krishnakoli’, starring
Tiyasha Roy
and
Neel Bhattacharya
in the lead roles, turned out to be a huge hit on Bengali television and was recently remade in Telugu as ‘
Krishna Tulasi
’.
It will be interesting to see how the Kannada remake of ‘Sundari’ fares on the
TRP
charts.
