Bengali daily soap Sagar Jyoti to go off-air

A series of Bengali TV shows concluded their journey within a few months of launch in the recent past. Adding one more to the list, the television serial ‘Sagar Jyoti’, starring Rahul Dev Bose and Nabanita Malakar as lead jodi, is set to go off-air too. The news came as quite a shocker for the cast and crew who were not aware of the decision made by the channel.Sources suggest, Sagar Jyoti’s story was taking a new turn, right when the news of its conclusion came into light. The team is bit upset with the abrupt end. They had to shoot a premature climax owing to the decision made by the channel.
It was an emotional moment for the entire crew who weren’t expecting a goodbye so soon.
‘Sagar Jyoti’, which has a strong cast, was launched in August. While ‘Bajlo Tomar Alor Benu’ fame Rahul is playing the male lead and Nabanita is paired opposite him, Chandreyee Ghosh, Ananya Sengupta, Liza Sarkar and others are playing prominent characters.
The story revolves around Jyoti, a strong and courageous girl who dreams big. Her family runs a roadside food stall and Jyoti wants to build a five-star hotel one day. Sagar, on the other hand, is a successful entrepreneur. He is very ambitious. Despite coming from completely different family backgrounds, the duo falls in love and dreams to have a happy life together.
Besides this, ‘Shree Krishna Bhakto Meera’ is also going off-air. Earlier, ‘Rimli’, ‘Khirer Putul’, ‘Kadambini’ and few other shows went off-air within a few months of their launch.
