Actress Diya Chakraborty, whose performance in Bengali period-drama ‘Rani Rashmoni’ had impressed the audience, has a new project in her kitty. The makers of upcoming television serial ‘Tomar Khola Hawa’ have roped in the actress for a prominent role.
Sashi Sumeet productions’ next television project ‘Tomar Khola Hawa’, however, will feature Diya playing a completely different role. Her character has interesting shades. The actress is currently busy preparing for her new project.
After ‘Rani Rashmoni’, Diya is playing a completely different role in Raj Chakraborty-produced ‘Godhuli Alap’. The reel character is poles apart from the role she played in Ditipriya Roy starrer TV show ‘Rani Rashmoni‘ which turned out to be an instant hit and featured an ensemble cast. But viewers will see her in a different avatar now.
Diya, who stepped into showbiz at an early age, made her debut with Ananya Chatterjee’s ‘Subarnalata’, which earned a lot of praise from the audience for the power-packed performance by the star cast and interesting storytelling. She went on to feature in a number of daily soaps including ‘E Amar Gurudakshina’, ‘Rupkotha’, ‘Mayar Badhon’, ‘Jai Kali Kalkattawali’. But it was ‘Rani Rashmoni’ which made Diya a household name. With her devil-may-care attitude, Padma, the character played by Diya in ‘Rani Rashmoni’, managed to win the hearts of Bengali audience almost instantly.
‘Tomar Khola Hawa’, which is among the much-awaited upcoming launches, will feature artists Swastika Dutta and Subhankar Saha as the lead pair. This is the first time, Swastika and Subhankar are teaming up as a reel pair.
