’s ‘Indira’. In the upcoming show Soumi Dutta, Arya Chandra, Sougata Sarkar, Swagata Basu will be seen in meaty roles.

Previously a film was also made based on the same story starring veteran actors Soumitra Chatterjee, Aparna Sen and Sumitra Mukherjee.

The story of the upcoming serial will revolve around Indira, who used to stay at her parent’s house in Maheshpur. Indira was married when she was quite young. Her father, who was a rich Zamindar brought her back citing the reason that Indiria’s husband is yet to be financially independent.

Her father-in-law asks her to visit Monoharpur adding that Indira’s husband can take her responsibility now. While going to her in-law’s house, dacoits rob them near Kaladheeghi.

Young Indira gets shocked by the sudden incident and spends the night in the jungle. Next day she meets a Brahmin, who allows her to stay with them. Meanwhile, neither Indira’s parents nor her in-laws could find her out.

After a few days, she meets Shubha, a kind-hearted lady. Subha’s husband Ramanbabu learns about Indira’s husband and helps them to reunite.

The screenplay and dialogues are penned by Somnath Roy. Director Debidas Bhattacharya will direct the show. Previously he directed ‘Briddhashram’, which was quite popular among the viewers. The show, which narrated the story of elderly people of our society and put a question about the significance of old homes. The show ‘Briddhashram’ had veteran actress Lily Chakravarty as lead. The hard-hitting treatment of the show made it instantly popular.
