Artists’ Forum in favour of resuming work for new TV shows

Uncertainty loomed over the shoots of new television shows in Bengali entertainment industry after ‘Federation of Cine Technicians and Workers of Eastern India’ (FCTWEI) expressed its disagreement to work for the upcoming projects. Last Saturday, FCTWEI announced that the technicians will work only after the proposed MOU is being signed with TV Producers.They alleged that the MOU, which highlights the welfare of technicians, was supposed to be signed years back.
Following this, shoots of new shows couldn’t start yesterday (June 28). Meanwhile, Artists’ Forum extended its support in favour of resuming the shoots of new shows. Yesterday, the members of Forum, made their stand clear and expressed their desire to resume work for new shows as soon as possible to avoid further loss.
The shooting for Sean Banerjee and Srijla Guha starrer ‘Mon Phagun’ was scheduled to start. But the sudden decision from the Federation has cast a shadow. Similarly, other new shows ‘Sarbajaya’, ‘Dhulokona’ and ‘Sree Krishna Bhakto Meera’ are likely to get affected too. Promos of all these shows went on air but shootings got affected due to the restrictions imposed in the state owing to the pandemic.
To address the issue between FCTWEI and TV Producers, a meeting will soon be held. Director-producer-turned-politician Raj Chakraborty assured that all the stakeholders will sit together and find a solution so that the work flow doesn’t get affected.
Earlier, on June 24, members of Artists’ Forum, TV Producers, and FCTWEI held a meeting in the presence of minister Arup Biswas, Parambrata Chattopadhyay and Raj. The Tolly stakeholders decided to frame a guideline for a smooth workflow. They also discussed the MOU. All the parties decided to frame a guideline within July 20 and finalise it after holding another meeting.
