Sudipta Banerjee, who was in Mumbai for the last couple of months, has joined the cast of ‘Sona Roder Gaan’. She will play a medical practitioner in the popular television show. Sudipta will be playing Dr. Diya’s character which was earlier played by actress Poulomi Das.
Sudipta is all elated about her new project. Dr. Diya’s character has multiple shades and her presence will add some more spice to the story for sure.
Sudipta, who became a household name playing Rani Manimallicka’s character in fantasy drama ‘Saat Bhai Champa’, was in Mumbai for the shooting of Ekta Kapoor produced supernatural-drama series ‘Naagin 6’. She played a meaty role in the show. The actress enjoyed her stint in Hindi television and now she is back in Kolkata. Prior to that, Sudipta was seen playing a negative role in ‘Gramer Rani Binapani’. She played Sanjukta’s character in the show while actors Honey Bafna and Annmary Tom are essaying the lead jodi. Sudipta left the show midway to shoot for ‘Naagin 6’.
The actress is mostly seen playing negative roles in daily soaps. Her reel character Manimallicka, an evil queen, in Rudrajit Mukherjee-Promita Chakrabartty starrer ‘Saat Bhai Champa’, was hugely popular among the viewers. Even after the show concluded its journey on Bengali television, viewers still address her as Manimallicka aka Mallicka. Soon after that, she was seen playing similar roles in ‘Singha Logna’ and the supernatural TV drama ‘Nojor’.
