TV show ‘Gaatchora’, has back-to-back surprises for the audience it seems. The show witnessed a major change in the star cast and the storyline. Actress
Solanki Roy, who used to play the female lead, left the show right when the makers decided to feature a huge time leap. Following this, the show welcomed many artists including
Arya Dasgupta and Katha Chakraborty, playing prominent characters.
But nothing could help 'Gaatchora', which was already witnessing a dip in terms of TRP. The makers have yet another surprise for the audience.
Actress Sriparna Roy of ‘Kori Khela’ fame, has joined the cast. Interestingly, the actress recently left her on-going show ‘Mukut’ owing to ‘personal reasons’. When the makers offered her ‘Gaatchora’, Sriparna quickly said yes.
Viewers will see Sriparna essaying the character Rukmini Sengupta. Rukmini’s presence is likely to create a ripple in male protagonist Riddhiman’s (played by Gourab Chatterjee) life. She will be paired opposite
Gourab Chatterjee in the story, who is essaying the male lead. According to industry sources, after
Solanki left the show, the makers were keen on roping in a popular actress opposite Gourab. Finally, Sriparna landed the role.
TV show ‘Gaatchora’ used to dominate the TRP chart. While the star-studded star cast managed to catch the attention of the audience since beginning, it was Solanki-Gourab’s reel chemistry, that turned out to be the USP of the show. Protagonists, Khori and Riddhiman became one of the most popular jodis on Bengali TV and their crackling chemistry worked in show’s favour too. But eventually, ‘Gaatchora’ started lagging in terms of TRP.
The rating witnessed a dip yet again after actress Solanki Roy left the show. The newly featured time leap, fresh storyline, newly introduced characters, couldn’t work in show’s favour. It will be interesting to see whether Sriparna’s entry helps the show sustain the numbers.
