With her beautiful smile and innocent face, actress
Shreema Bhattacharjee has already become a household name. The ‘Jamai Raja’ actress is a bubbly girl in real life. She is much excited about Laxmi puja at their place though the actress is unwell since last few days.
Shreema said, “I am not keeping well since last few days. I have sore throat and high fever. In fact, my mother is also down with fever. But we will have Laxmi puja today. We have already started decorating our Laxmi idol.”
The actress shared that every year she makes 'bhog' for the goddess.
“Every year I prepare the bhog for Maa Laxmi. This year I will cook luchi and payesh. My friends, relatives and neighbours visit our place during Laxmi puja. My mother prepares prasad for them and I help her,” she says.
The actress wakes up early in the morning to help her mother during Laxmi puja if she has shoots.
But this year, the actress doesn’t have any shoots and she will be enjoying the day with her family and friends.
Following the tradition, the entire Bhattacharjee family gears up for Laxmi puja wholeheartedly. Shreema shared that her father offers puja to the goddess.
In her words, “I believe you don’t need to chant mantra or make an extra effort to connect with god. The connection lies within our hearts. You only need to pray with honesty and love.”
The actress went emotional sharing her point of view about immersion after puja and not having Laxmi idol made of clay this year. She said, “We have decided to offer puja to the Laxmi idol kept in our thakurghar. Immersion of idol makes me upset. I can’t understand the logic of offering puja to the goddess and then abandoning them in a deserted place or immersing them.” In fact, she has kept all the clay idols at her place as bisarjan makes her upset.
She narrated an incident about visiting a ghat (river bank) where clay idols of goddess Laxmi and Manasha were abandoned by local people. Seeing the sight, she couldn’t resist her emotions and broke down into tears.
The young actress, who is still in college, somehow connects bisarjan with the harsh reality of life.
“Human nature tends to give priority to people whom we have recently met or from whom we need favour. After a while, we start taking them for granted and sometimes we end up abandoning them. In fact, we don’t think twice about abandoning our parents at oldage homes. And the irony is that we treat god just like that after puja,” says the actress.
