Actress Debashree Roy to make OTT debut

After casting a spell on the silver screen, Debashree Roy is ready for her first web series. The actress will be seen in director Sourav Chakraborty’s upcoming OTT project which will stream on a leading Bengali OTT platform. She was last seen in television show ‘Sarbajaya’, starring Deepankar De, Kushal Chakraborty, Moumita Gupta and others.

National award winning actress Debashree Roy will soon be seen in a web series. The actress will be seen in director Sourav Chakraborty’s upcoming web series. The actress, who ruled silver screen and has critically acclaimed art movies and commercial films, will make her OTT debut with the upcoming project.
The eminent actress took a sabbatical from her acting career and concentrated on political commitments.She also worked for the welfare of animals and has always been vocal about animal rights.
In 2021, she finally agreed to do an entertainment project. It was a television serial, produced by Snehasish Chakraborty making her comeback in 2021.
She played the titular role in television show ‘Sarbajaya’, which narrated the story of a middle-aged lady, who finally decides to live freely, after devoting almost all her life to her family. The show had a strong star cast including artists Kushal Chakraborty, Dipankar De, Moumita Gupta, Supriyo Dutta and others playing prominent roles. The show had a brief run on Bengali television and went off-air sooner than expected. However, Debashree stole the hearts of the audience yet again as protagonist Sarbajaya.

After ‘Sarbajaya’, the actress wasn’t seen in any other entertainment projects. And viewers have been eager to see her on the screen. Well, the wait is over, Debashree will soon start shooting for the upcoming web series which will feature many other popular faces from the industry.
In her movie career, Debashree has appeared in over a hundred movies. Debashree is one of those artists from Tollywood, who tasted success in both art film and commercial movies. The actress has also done Hindi movies.
In her career, Debashree has worked with some of the most eminent directors including Tarun Majumder, Prabhat Roy, Aparna Sen, Rituparno Ghosh and many others. She won National Film Award under Best Actress category, in 1995, for late director Rituparno Ghosh-directed movie ‘Unishe April’. Besides this, she has received many prestigious awards including BFJA Awards, Kalakar Awards, Banga Bibhushan, Bharat Nirman Awards and many more. Be it film, or television, irrespective of mediums, Debashree proved her acting mettle time and again.
