It’s time for Omi Agarwal to bid goodbye to daily soap ‘Mithai’. Actor John Bhattacharya, who was seen essaying Omi’s character, will no longer be seen in the show. John will soon be seen in the new daily soap ‘Alor Thikana’, starring Joyee fame Debadrita Basu. Prior to that, he finished the shoot for ‘Mithai’. It will be aired on the Bengali general entertainment channel that airs ‘Nayantara’, ‘Meghe Dhaka Tara’ and other shows.
Yesterday was John’s last day of his shoot on Mithai’s set. It was an emotional moment for the actor as he shot for his last scene as Omi Agarwal, the crooked guy who has been giving protagonists Siddhartha (played by Adrit Roy) and Mithai (essayed by Soumitrisha Kundoo) sleepless nights. This was the first time John played a baddie on-screen.
It was quite a surprise for the audience, who had seen the handsome actor essaying mostly male leads earlier, playing an antagonist in 'Mithai'. But John, as Omi, was every bit convincing. His face-offs with arch-rival Omi certainly spiced up the entertainment quotient of the show. While John was nostalgic to face the camera one last time as Omi, team ‘Mithai’ was equally emotional to bid him goodbye.
The teaser of John’s upcoming show has just been released. The actor will soon start shooting with the cast and crew of ‘Alor Thikana’. Meanwhile, he has already done an OTT project and also shot for a music video which also has some of the most talented musicians and celebrities of this industry. The actor has been a part of many TV shows including ‘Bojhena Se Bojhena’, ‘Naagleela’, ‘Nojor’ and ‘Rimli’. He was also featured in Dev starrer movie, ‘Golondaaj’.
