Funicular railway is a fun way to access the ETH from the Central Station in Zürich. Constructed in 1889, it is one of the oldest functional funiculars in Europe and was powered by water-weights. Polybahn now is fully automated; it is operated with AC motor and fitted with state-of-the-art technology. The mountain stations boast of the original Red colour. The terrace at ETH Zürich offers unobstructed view of Zürich city, Lake Zürich, and the Alps in the distance. Climb up the steep hill in the funicular and enjoy the old world charm while soaking in the magnificent panorama. It is an expensive ride, but nonetheless an iconic and rare experience for everyone!
